| Fog Delay 20X16 Acrylic on Canvas 2009
"Sailing in fog can be a tense one and many a time I simply waited at the dock for the fog to lift. Of course these days boaters have radar and other tech. aids but my days were basic."

Painted Sky Revisited 24X30 Acrylic on Canvas 2009
"I call this revisited because I recently added to the painting after leaving it for a year. The clouds are new and the colors deepened from my first look at this study of the southwestern landscape. It is based on my memories of visits and hikes in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe region."

Hot Day 11 X 14 Acrylic on Canvas 2008
"My recent work has been with the acrylic medium and has led me into experimenting with abstracts, an area I have wanted to try. One thing I have already learned is it is not that easy for a structured and detail oriented artist to "loosen up" and define a subject in the abstract. But it is fun."

All Quiet 24 X 36 Acrylic on Board 2008
"All Quiet began in my mind as an abstract but I quickly found myself painting with detail. The subject of trees has become one of my main interests and for me, the detail in a tree must be studied and captured in a composition. Yet I also want to loosen up into the abstract, so my challenge is set."

Racing in to Watch Hill 24 X 60 Acrylic on Board 2008
"Many years were spent sailing on "SISU" but alas those times passed by. My memories gave me this composition that depicts the sailors' racing the weather in returning to safe harbor. Watch Hill was selected but it could be anyone of many sailing areas along New England shores."

Watch Hill Sentinel 16 X 20 Acrylic on Canvas 2007
" This is one of my first acrylic medium paintings and another view of one of my favorite lighthouse subjects. The composition developed from my observations on a late winter day after an off shore storm had raised up surf. A late afternoon sun highlights the light station and helps portray it as the sentinel for weather watching."

Early Light 14 X 18 Acrylic on Canvas 2008
"Early Light is an alternative expression of my work, "Hot Day" using the same subject but with a cool palette and more impressionist in approach. As one may perceive, my mind works in mysterious ways."

High Country Pass 24 X 36 Acrylic on Canvas 2008
"Having visited some areas of New Mexico and Arizona I decided to put some impressions on canvas that I had of the high desert and varied climate one finds. An alternate title for this piece may be "Touch of Snow" but my intent is to give the viewer an idea that high country can be a surprise."

FALLING SNOW 14 x 18 Acrylic on Canvas 2008
This painting is an expression of my quiet or peaceful emotions; the silence in a snowfall and the veil on vision were my goals in this view of a stand of trees. I hope the viewer senses them.
